Someone Like You, Signed

“Is this something you might be interested in?” the FOL volunteer asked, handing me the book.  The cover was unfamiliar to me, but the look on her face made it clear she knew what she was putting in my hands.

Yes, I was interested.  Very interested.  Made-my-day kind of interested.

This would be a signed copy of Roald Dahl’s Someone Like You, dated February 1954.  It’s the third printing (1954), no dust jacket, in acceptable condition.  $250.00.

Please contact us at or come visit us if you would like to see this book.  More details can be found on our website.

Signed Pierre Berton books

Okay, so you really gotta be Canadian to get excited about this post–and I suppose you have to be old, too (which says a lot about your humble blogger).  Anyway, yesterday we received a box of books that got this old Canadian doing a happy dance.

These are written by Pierre Berton.  They are all signed by Pierre Berton. They all have dust jackets.  A lot of them are first editions.  Sadly, they aren’t likely to have your name inside, as they’re addressed to specific people.  In any case, they’re special.

The coolest item of the lot, however, is signed by Mr. Berton but not written by him.  This is the programme from an appreciation dinner given by his friends; it contains the menu for the dinner, poems, short essays, illustrations, etc.  If you’re a collector or a Pierre Berton fan, this is the one for you.

Please visit us at Mississauga Central Library on Wednesdays and Saturday mornings, or contact us through any of the options here.

Click 1-3

We’ve been receiving some awesome donations lately.  This week, we received some Eurotica.  We have a copy of Milo Manara’s Click 1-3, which would be three volumes of graphic erotica.

We’ve edited the cover a little for this blog, but the book has the original cover.

For inquiries, please contact or check out the front page of our website (scroll to the bottom for “Special Book Finds”.

Records–That Would Be “Vinyl”

We have recently been given a few record albums.  A long time ago, both “record” and “album” referred to the vinyl thing you put on your turntable; if you’re old enough to understand these words, you may be interested in these things.

Sadly, these are not in great shape, but they’re all perfectly playable.  The album covers have sustained the most damage (scuffing and sliced bottoms), there are no inner sleeves, and the records themselves are obviously well-loved.  As one who still owns a turntable and records (no ageist comments, please), this blogger would still allow them near the precious needle.

This is what we have, at $5-$7 each:
